My husband and I were confident in our decision to have DJ and Nici Ten Hoeve represent us, as both buyers and sellers, from the moment we first reached out to them. Most agents can be professional and knowledgeable, but most customers what more than that, and we certainly did! We felt an instant trust and respect; and we were struck by their flawless accountability, attention to detail, and ease of communication.
We sold our house in less than a week for asking price, and happily started our journey to find our “forever home.” Every showing was exciting. DJ’s knowledge extended far greater than the average agent as a local resident, son of a reputable builder, and as a person who instinctively knows a quality house. We always felt like we were learning something from him.
We loved that almost everything was paperless. As a family who struggles with the elusive work-life balance, it was so nice to keep things simple! There were documents for just about everything and we can’t imagine having to print, sign, and re-send everything. We have had to do with other professionals. We just opened up the e-mail, approved our electronic signature, and clicked. We also loved that they used IPads to pull up any details you needed while looking at a house.
We always wanted to know what was a fair price, and we always got a detailed explanation with objective information (e.g. price per square foot, % up/down for certain features). My husband and I really appreciated their efforts to make us educated sellers and buyers. We never felt pressured.
Nici was essential in making sure everything was completed by all parties. The process was smooth and void of unnecessary headaches. There was never a hesitation to go above and beyond when we were worried about something. Her e-mails were always outlined in a way that was easy to follow, and more importantly, easy to reference at a later date.
This review is long, but necessary given the effort that DJ and Nici put forth to help our family. We highly recommend them to anyone who is looking to be well taken care of for any real estate transaction!

As first time homebuyers looking to move from New York City to Monmouth County, my wife and I knew we had quite the journey ahead of us. We started out by spending an entire weekend going to open houses. After having met 8 other realtors, we met Nici. We still look at it as a bit of a miracle. We went to her open house 30 minutes past its scheduled time. She literally saw us from her car’s rearview mirror and came back to the house to meet us. We instantly trusted her integrity and knowledge much more than any other agent we had met.
Nici and D.J (who is equally as dedicated) showed us a wide range of houses. We fell in love with one, and the Ten Hoeve’s went into action. Not only were they always available, but they were also proactive at getting things done. They both went above and beyond what we expected, helping with things that clearly weren’t even their responsibility.
The relationship with the seller became tenuous towards the end. Up to the last minute of the closing, Nici and D.J. were offering other options for me, showing me that they truly had our best interests in mind and were not simply looking to get a deal done.
We ended up purchasing our dream home for below asking price. They continue to be in contact to make sure we are happy and getting adjusted. They continue to answer any questions we have about the area and home ownership in general! I will strongly be recommending the Ten Hoeve’s to anyone moving to the area.
I still hate to think where we’d be if Nici hadn’t turned back.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND DJ TEN HOEVE!
I worked with DJ from May till the end of November in 2011. From the very first time we met he knew what we needed to do. We owned a condo in Red Bank which we intially thought we needed to sell to move to our dream home. DJ came to the table with all the information necessary to help us make the right decision. We were under water in the condo but he guided us into renting our condo and having tenants pay the mortgage! Simultaneously, DJ found us the perfect house for us in just a week and a half. We made an offer immediately and followed DJ's guidance and we closed a few short months later.
DJ is great at listening to your needs and giving advice on how to get there. DJ makes the right decsion at the right time
